The Adizero Prime SP is adidas’s answer to the Nike Maxfly, and in our view it’s the better spike for running the bend. When we reviewed the Prime SP 2, it felt less aggressive than the Maxfly, giving the foot a wider range of motion from stride to stride. That suits 200m and 400m runners especially, and plenty of the fastest 200m times of recent seasons have been run in it.
The Prime SP 3 built on that with a redesigned upper, a narrower fit and an improved lacing system, keeping Lightstrike Pro foam over a full-length plate with six pins. The Prime SP 4 is the current version. In our 100m spikes guide we noted the higher stack height takes a few sessions to get used to and can put extra load through the calves and Achilles, so it’s best saved for races and key sessions.
For narrow feet, this is our pick over the Maxfly.
Who it’s for: competitive sprinters and hurdlers, particularly 200m and 400m specialists.
