The Adizero Finesse is genuinely one of our favourite spikes of all time. We’ve raced and trained in it for years. Its plate is neutrally balanced and less aggressive than adidas’s out-and-out sprint spikes, so it doesn’t force the foot into one position. That makes it brilliant around the bend and a natural choice for the 200m, 400m and sprint hurdles.

In our Adizero Finesse review we highlighted the SPRINTFRAME plate, built for technical and curve-specific running, and an upper that’s light without sacrificing support. In the 400m spikes guide we went as far as saying you won’t find a better spike for the one-lap race.

A tip from our cheap sprint spikes guide: adidas only overhauls this model every few years, so last season’s colourway is often the same spike for a lot less money.

Who it’s for: 200m, 400m and hurdles athletes who want comfort and control rather than maximum aggression.
