We think the ASICS Hyper MD is one of the best-looking middle distance spikes on the market, and it performs well too. In our 800m, 1500m and long distance guides we liked its snappy response on toe-off and the grip from pins positioned around the perimeter of the plate.
A traditional mesh upper with taped-on overlays gives support through the bends, and the reinforced upper offers a little more protection from the elements than most distance spikes. An EVA heel wedge adds support. It’s an entry-to-mid-level spike that offers great value for money.
Who it’s for: club runners racing 800m to 3000m who want a reliable spike at a fair price.
