The Rival Distance is Nike’s entry-level distance spike and the successor to the Zoom Rival M and Rival MD, which we’ve recommended in our 1500m spikes, long distance spikes and junior running spikes guides.
It’s light, breathable and comfortable, with a cushioned heel that softens landings and a plate that gives good traction without being harsh. Nike rates it for everything from 400m to 10,000m, and we’ve seen athletes use earlier versions for hurdles and even jumps, which makes it a brilliant all-rounder for younger athletes.
