The MD800 is New Balance’s middle distance spike, and the v8 is a lightweight, airy race shoe for 800m to 3000m. In our 1500m and long distance spikes guides we highlighted the full-length Pebax plate with six pins, which gives strong support under the toe box and good propulsion.
The upper fuses two thin materials together in a no-sew construction. That means flat interior seams, no hot spots and a fit you can happily race in without socks. It’s light, responsive and well priced compared with the carbon super spikes.
Who it’s for: 800m to 3000m runners who want a light, responsive spike without the super-spike price tag.
